    The RSS feed is back

In moving the site, I moved RSS directories causing the RSS feed to break. Thanks to the magic of curiosity, Google, JSON, routing, redirects, trial (repeat), error (repeat) and finally success, the RSS feed is back.

    A good user interface

“The most annoying thing? I don’t subscribe to any podcasts on Spotify. It’s not something I have ever used, but Spotify won’t stop bugging me about podcasts.” source With all the algorithms and personalization and ad targeting, you’d think product managers would finally be able to get this right. Why mess up a good user […]

    Challenging visions

“First, entrepreneurial skills can be applied to a wide range of society’s challenges.  The core skills of founders and entrepreneurs are vision, leadership/inspiration/mobilization of teams, and a fearlessness about trying things and then seizing on the ones that work and rapidly discarding the ones that don’t, quickly absorbing learnings along the way.” source Something something […]

    Software is the network

So it’s fitting that exactly a decade later, we’ve come to another watershed moment. Software has eaten the world, and now it’s a commodity. It’s not about the technology anymore. The era of the engineer has ended; the era of the curator has begun. source. John Gage’s decades-old mantra “the network is the computer” might […]

    A significant shift

“In moving forward, marketing experts say Activsion Blizzard needs to align their communications across marketing, human resources and the C-suite divisions. “Marketing working without those other two critical parties will seem hollow,” says Cieslak. “It needs to be sincere, actionable and immediate. It needs to feel comprehensive and signal a significant shift.”” source This might […]

    Faster, louder, harder

“It’s got to be faster, louder, harder. We’ve got to be out getting scoops, taking people backstage, showing them parts of the world they don’t get to see every day.” source Taking people backstage. That’s the value.

    My published books

2020 was a crazy year. So crazy, I published my first two books. They won’t ever be bestsellers, however it was an itch I wanted to scratch. From layout to design to publication and distribution, it was a process I really wanted to put myself through. No matter how frustrating. And satisfying. Two completely different […]

    Being creative and productive

I tend to be very practical when it comes to the things I use every day. Especially when it comes to being productive, I take great care in finding tools that serve one purpose really (really) well and may lend themselves to other purposes as needed. That one purpose? I want to be able to […]

    Freed, from a hospital?

“On Jan. 17, 2020, hospital staff freed Spriestersbach.” source Just because it’s the way we’ve always done it, doesn’t mean it’s the right way to do it. This story screams of rubber stamping. What a wild story. With a crazy twist at the end.

    Postapocalyptic

Each cube here is a tone poem in melancholia. Looking at these leaden vistas of America makes you feel, slightly but noticeably, worse than you did before. source I think we all knew how challenging those CAPTCHAs can be when trying to log in to a site. Who knew how much of an impact they […]
